Biblical Accounts Of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH)

Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) had brought the final revelation of Allah(SWT) till the end time and hence his message will stay with people forever.

According to 1 John 4: 1 and 2:

1 John 4: 1 Beloved, believe not every Spirit, but try the Spirits whether they are of God; because many false Prophets are gone out into the World
1 John 4: 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit 1 of God: Every Spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.

In the above verses, the spirit and prophet are synonymously used since prophet's are the bearer of pure spirit and their spiritual existence overpowers their material being and hence referring them to as spirit is not surprising. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) spirit as per the Islamic tradition was in existence even before Prophet Adam (peace be upon him)was created. His attributes were found in Jewish scriptures way before Jesus (peace be upon him) came to this earth and was known to all believers before his actual coming to this world.

The clear signs of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are given in both Old Testiment and New Testiment and hence the reference could very well be based on those attributes. The jews of Medina recognized prophet (peace be upon him) better than their own sons since the attributes given in their books about him were so clear and vivid. The Jews expected the last messenger to be born among them and when that didn't happen, they out of their anger and jealously turned against prophet Muhammad. However, pagans of Medina who lived with Jews for a long time, recognized the Prophet (peace be upon him) and accepted his prophethood since the same Jews use to give them thsi information about the coming of the last messenger with detailed attributes. According to the Biblical accounts:

1. " But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come (John. 16:13 )

Note: The Quran is a compilation of the "Divine Revelations" that were received by Prophet Muhammad, over a period of 23 years, through the archangel Gabriel. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to recite whatever he used to hear from Angel Gabriel and his companions used to write down whatever he recited. The Quran does not contain the writings or teachings of Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him), as often mentioned by some misinformed authors.

Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power (Jibrael (Gabriel)). (An-Najm:2-5)"

2. "He shall glorify me." (John 16:14 )

Note: The Qur'an glorifies the birth of Jesus through Virgin Mary. It confirms; Jesus was a Messiah, a Messenger of God, the Spirit from God, the Word of God and the Righteous Prophet.

We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. (Al-Baqra:87)

... and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong). (Al-E-Imran:3)

Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah; (Al-E-Imran:45)

Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute. (Al-E-Imran:55)

Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute. (Chapter 19 Maryam:34) And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. (Az-Zukhruf:61)

3. "He shall take mine and shall disclose it to you." (John. 16:14 )

Note: Prophet Muhammad did declare himself a Messenger/Prophet of God like Abraham, Moses and Jesus.

Muhammad is no more than a messenger: (Al-E-imran:144)

Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)." (Al-E-Imran:84)

4. "He will teach you all things." (John 14:26 )

Note: The Quran teaches a way of life. It guides mankind, how to live a pious life socially, politically and spiritually. The Prophet(peace be upon him) himself said:

"…Indeed I have been sent as a teacher."

5. "He will bring to your remembrance all that I said to you." (John. 14:26 )

Note: The Quran speaks about the teachings of Jesus(peace be upon him) and even quotes him.

6. "He will bear witness of me" (John 15:26 )

Note: The Quran attests the miracles performed by Jesus (peace be upon him) the messiah. It also mentions an additional astonishing miracle performed by Jesus that the Gospel writers have not recorded. The Quran acknowledges that these miracles and signs were performed with the leave of Allah(SWT), by His righteous servant and messiah Jesus(peace be upon him). The same is also mentioned in the Book of Acts 2:22; 3:13 (NASB).

Then will Allah say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favour to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee with the holy spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel and behold! thou makest out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou breathest into it and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou healest those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou bringest forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee when thou didst show them the clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: 'This is nothing but evident magic.' (Al-Maeda:110)
John 14: 16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you Another Comforter (Periclytos), that he may abide with you for ever.

"Ahmed", or "Muhummed", the Praised one, is almost a translation of the Greek word "Periclytos" In the present Gospel of John 14:16, 15:26, and 16:7, the word "Comforter" in the English version for the Greek word "Paracletos", which means "Advocate", "one called to the help of another, a kind friend", rather than "Comforter". It is known among researchers that Paracletos is a corrupt reading for Periclytos and that in the original saying of Jesus there was a prophecy of our holy Prophet Ahmed by name. Even if we read Paraclete, it would imply to the Holy Prophet, who is "a Mercy for all creatures" (H.Q. 21:107) and "most kind and merciful to the Believers" (H.Q. 9:128) See also note 416 to H.Q. 3:81.

In the older MS, Codex Syriacus discovered in 1812 on Mount Sinai by Mrs. Agnes S. Lewis (and Mrs. Bensley), the text of John 14:26 reads; "Paraclete, the Spirit"; and not "Paraclete, the Holy Spirit". "The Spirit" is a reference to "the Spirit of Truth" as in 15:26.

In 1 John 4:6, the terms "the spirit of truth" and "the spirit of error" are used for the human beings. History records that prophet Muhammad was known for his Truth and Honesty, long before he received the Divine Revelations

" But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come (John. 16:13 )

The presence of Paracletos in Bible was of spiritual nature i.e. the deeds and examples of prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) have been with us muslims for the last 1400 years and will stay till the end of this world.
